A couple in New York chose to drop all their expensive wedding plans that were to take up 15000 USD, nearly Shs54 million and opted to go in for a beautiful honeymoon adventure in three different countries and one state.
According to The Independent, a popular news website, Yulia Thomas, a luxury travel advisor shared her experience explaining their decision and what changed their minds.
Thomas says the wedding preparations were making her very anxious. Everything had become so stressful, expensive and worst of all, their families were pulling them in different directions.
One morning, just nine months before the actual day, the couple woke up and decided to cancel all their wedding plans, go in for something simple, and opt for a mega honeymoon.
“We called two of our best friends, I ran to the store and bought a $50 (nearly 180000 Uganda shillings) white dress and we were married three hours later,” Thomas said.
The couple then used the money they had saved for their wedding ceremony to book trips to Greece, Italy, Hawaii, and Morocco.
According to Thomas weddings are “overwhelmingly overpriced” and people should take motivation from her own insight.
“It’s your life and you should celebrate it however you want,” she wrote.
