It is known by most cultures in Uganda that an introduction ceremony is one of the ceremonies that a couple has to go through before they tie the knot.
This is done to officially introduce the person you are planning to spend the rest of your life with to friends and family in a cultural setting. However, it was quite different for this couple.
George Mpanga, popularly known as George the Poet and his wife Sandra Diana Makumbi had a backyard wedding that happened in London where they both reside.
Sandra stunned in an off-shoulder A-line gown that she paired with a cathedral veil. The groom on the other hand pulled off a black tuxedo. For the after-party, Sandra changed into a high-slit evening gown well as George switched up a little bit and opted for a white coat for his tuxedo.
The ceremony happened in August this year.
A local website, says that due to Covid-19 restrictions and busy schedules, the couple was not able to hold their introduction ceremony which required them to travel back home to Uganda. The two, therefore, decided to have their wedding ceremony first until when they were finally able to come home and have their introduction.
In a post on December 21 on his Instagram, George shared his relief of finally having the ceremony that they always wanted. The two are said to have landed in the country a few weeks back in preparation for the ceremony that was held recently.
He wrote;
“2021 imma let you finish but me and Sandra finally got the introduction we wanted…Bringing our families together has been our dream for the year. The pandemic didn’t make it easy, but God smiled on our plans.”
Musicians like Sheebah, Fik Fameika, and Winnie Nwagi showed up to perform at the ceremony.
The couple got engaged last year in December.
My Wedding wishes them a happy marriage.
